Six Kids, Tomato Soup and the White Soccer Jersey. Oh My

The following post is in partnership with Tide.

It was a day I’ll never forget, March 8, 2015. It was my son’s birthday and my other son’s first soccer game. The day was packed full of tasks I had yet to do. The “mom of the year” in me decided it would be a good idea to invite 30 of our closest family and friends over to celebrate the birth of our second son with a home-cooked dinner. This, of course, was scheduled well before my other son’s first evening soccer game. The day was off to a hectic start with my six children needing me to do six different things.

My morning sounded something like this…”Mom, can you find my pants”. “I need my jersey!” “Mom, where are my socks? “Can I have cereal?” “I’m thirsty.” “I’m hungry”. “Hey, where are my shoes, Mom?” “I’m tired. When does my party start?” “When does my game start?” “Where’s dad?” During all of this I, of course, was preparing my “crowd pleasing” tomato soup and gooey grilled cheese for our big birthday dinner. In the midst of the morning, the chaos began. The children slowly started getting a little too rambunctious…And, that’s when it happened! One kid was chasing the other and caused the third to bump into me as I was transferring my soup from one pan to another. As, I’m sure, you can imagine it was a colossal mess! Tomato soup was splattered from ceiling to floor and as I scanned the room to assess the damage, my eyes fell upon the very white soccer jersey. My son had neatly laid the jersey out in anticipation of his upcoming game. I knew it was only a matter of time before he too, laid eyes on the now red splattered jersey. As I moved to quickly whisk away the evidence, he too looked in that direction. And, that’s when the tears began to pour and the loud sobs began to escape his mouth.Tide-Original

“MOM!!!!! It’s ruined!!! Now, I can’t play in my game!” he exclaimed. I took my little drama king into my arms and I whispered in his ear, “Don’t worry, mom’s got this.”

My life is full of stains. I deal with emotional stains; money stains, scheduling stains, friendship stains and work stains. But, there are certain stains I don’t have to worry about. For instance the grass and dirt stains I find on my little #stainmakers new shorts, the green popsicle stains or in the case of my recent story, red tomato soup stains! There are some life stains I just have to learn to cope with, but thankfully for those pesky fabric stains I can surely take care of them with TIDE Liquid Laundry Detergent. I know I’m not the only one with a little #stainmaker in my life. Tune into the Oscars on Sunday to see TIDE’s newest #stainmaker advertisement or check them out here to watch them now!
