CSI’s William Petersen Welcomes Twins

Actor William Petersen and his wife, Gina Cirone welcomed twins via a surrogate on July 5th in Los Angeles, says PEOPLE. The babies, a boy and a girl, were born prematurely but are steadily gaining strength.

“The babies are doing great and are improving every day and we can’t wait for them to come home,” said a rep for the couple. There is still no word on what the babies have been named.

Petersen and Cirone, who is a biology teacher, recently celebrated their eighth wedding anniversary. It was the second time down the aisle for the 58-year-old actor, who was married to Joanne Brady until their divorce in 1981. He and his first wife have one daughter, Maite, who is 36.

Peterson starred in CSI until 2009, when he handed over his forensics equipment to Laurence Fishbourne, although Ted Danson will replace Fishbourne in the upcoming season of the show. Peterson also made a guest appearance in his old role – as entomologist Gil Grissom – on an episode that aired last February.
