Ways to Improve Your Sex Drive

January 24, 2010 by Madison Pados Leave a Comment

All women experience different levels of sex drive during their lives and at some points it might be lower than you like. A woman can experience a reduced libido for a variety of reasons and there are many things that can contribute to making the situation improve. Causes include, hormonal imbalances to depression and increased emotional issues. The exact cause of decreased sex drive in women can be a very difficult thing to determine. the trick is to identify the problem and then find the best remedies that match the direct cause. Often simple, meditative, holistic approaches can help achieve the desired results and quickly improve a woman’s sex drive.

Get In Check

Your doctor might be able to determine if you have a hormone imbalance. Many women experience a deficiency in estrogen as they approach menopause. Estrogen plays a key role in a woman’s reproductive system and libido. There are estrogen pills that can be taken orally as well as vaginal estrogen creams that are applied topically. These all help to increase blood flow to the vaginal area and help to arouse the sexual organs. Some doctors prescribe testosterone to treat low sex drive in women, but there are potentially undesirable side effects. Talk to your doctor about potential risks associated with women and testosterone.

Vitamins Can Help

Vitamin B5 is crucial in the manufacturing of sex hormones in the adrenal gland. B5 helps activate sex hormones and can mildly help with treatment. Vitamin B5 is widely available in supplement forms and over the counter pills, it is also plentiful in many common foods. Adding more Vitamin B5 enriched foods to your diet is simple and easy as it is found in whole grains, eggs, legumes, broccoli, red meat and avocados.

Get Clean

Drugs and alcohol can do more harm than good when it comes to increasing sex drive. Small doses may enhance sexual desire, but overuse can have the opposite effect. Taking a break from drugs and alcohol for a while can give a woman the chance to get a new perspective on her life and clear her body and mind from toxins. As your body recovers, relaxes, and detoxes sex drive may improve.

Exercise All Over

Low sex drive can be caused by lack of exercise. Aerobic exercises such as speed walking, hiking, running, biking, pilates, strength training and swimming can improve circulation and make you feel good about yourself. Exercising releases endorphins that create a positive feeling that make one more interested in sex. Exercising pelvic muscles called Kegel exercises can increase awareness of muscles in the erogenous zones therefore increase your libido. To do a traditional Kegel exercise, tighten pelvic muscles and hold for a count of five, release and repeat.

Beat Off The Stress

Being “stressed” can decrease the libido and take sex out of the picture for awhile. De-stressing your mind will relieve stress on your body allowing for thoughts of sexual desires. Try relaxing techniques such as deep breathing, massage, meditation, or acupuncture. A stress free mind will enjoy sex more and respond to sexual desires in a more positive manner.
