This time we really mean Uh Oh SpaghettiOs… Campbell Soup Co. is recalling 15 million pounds (wow!) of the canned pasta with meatballs after an equipment malfunction at one of the company's plants in Paris, Texas. Reportedly the meat was undercooked.
According to Campbell spokesman Anthony Sanzio, the company is recalling certain lots manufactured since December 2008 out of caution because it is unknown when the cooker malfunctioned.
The recalled items include three varieties of the child-friendly food – SpaghettiOs with Meatballs, SpaghettiOs A to Z with Meatballs, and SpaghettiOs Fun Shapes with Meatballs (Cars). The cans have "EST 4K" stamped on the bottom of the can and the use-by date is between June 2010 and December 2011.
Luckily there have been no reports of illness but check your cabinets to be on the safe side because nausea and/or vomiting could occur if the undercooked meat is consumed.
