Birthday Party Snack Foods

While the most important person at any birthday celebration is the birthday girl herself, party planners must pay some attention to the comfort of their guests to ensure that everyone has a delightful time at the party. One simple way to ensure that your guests remain happy is to provide them with tasty snacks throughout the event. Well-planned snacks can prevent tummies from rumbling and keep all party-goers fueled and ready to engage in celebration.

Easy Does It

Whether it’s your birthday or the birthday of a friend or family member, there is no reason for you to spend hours slaving away and devoting an abundance of energy to snack preparation. Don’t make birthday snacks harder than they have to be. Instead, prepare simple yet tasty options. Easy foods will fill your guests and please their taste buds just as much as the more host-taxing options.

Salty

Salt is one half of the perfect snack combination. Keep it simple with chips or the healthier option, pretzels. If you want to show your culinary skill, craft a cheese ball or make fancier savory hors d’oeuvres. Show off your kitchen smarts using canned crescent roll dough. Spread the dough out flat and smear herb cream cheese on it. Roll it up, and cut it into pinwheels. Bake for a deceptively fancy appetizer that looks like you spent hours creating the perfect savory treat.

Sweet

Pair your salty treats with something sweet. Fill bowls with your favorite candy, bake up cookies, or pick a healthy dried fruit mixture. Place these sweet treats next to the salty options, encouraging guests to try both and experience a pleasing taste sensation.

Time the Distribution

Decide in advance how you want to distribute your snacks. If you are serving a meal, you don’t want to load a table with snacks on which your guests will graze and completely spoil their appetites. To prevent this, stick out some appetizers and place the rest of your snacks out after the meal has been served. If you are not serving a main course, allow your guests to nibble freely as they don’t need to save room for a larger meal later.

Use as Decoration

Instead of allowing your snacks to clutter your party area, use them as part of the decoration. Place your snacks on attractive plates and in aesthetically pleasing bowls. Garnish the treats with objects that reflect your theme, such as tropical flowers to accent a luau or cut paper snowflakes to convey a winter birthday theme. As your guests’ eyes are drawn to your pleasing displays, they will become more eager to dine on the delights you are offering.
