Foods That Increase Sex Drive in Men
They say that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. It may also just be that his stomach is also the way to get him revved up. If your partner is suffering from a low sex drive, and you want to make things a bit spicier in the bedroom, feed him something that will help increase his libido and get him raring to go.
Nuts
Nuts, such as almonds, peanuts and Brazil nuts, contain arginine, an amino acid that increases blood flow, particularly in a man’s genital region. You can also find plenty of arginine in other foods, such as chickpeas, carrots and pumpkin seeds.
Fish
Omega-3 fatty acids also increase blood flow in the body. Feed your man fish, such as salmon, for dinner often enough to get him ready to go by bedtime. If you’re pregnant, be cautious about eating certain kinds of fish with your man. The Mayo Clinic warns against eating larger fish, such as swordfish or king mackerel, during pregnancy, because such fish tend to contain large amounts of mercury.
Oysters
Oysters contain zinc, which help keep the prostate gland healthy and increase testosterone. The simple act of shucking and eating oysters together may put your man’s sex drive into gear, since the feel of the oyster and the act of removing it from its shell can be arousing. Feed your man oysters but don’t eat them yourself during a pregnancy, though. Raw shellfish can carry bacteria that can be dangerous for both you and your baby, according to the Mayo Clinic.
Garlic
Give your man some garlic to help increase his circulation. If both of you eat plenty of garlicky meals, you won’t have to worry about the plant’s effects on your breath, since two garlics cancel each other out. You can also take garlic in pill form, if you can’t stand the taste.
Chocolate
Chocolate actually contains a chemical, phenethylamine, that makes it an aphrodisiac. Phenethylamine is found to make people happy and is the chemical produced by the brain when people fall in love. Share a few ounces of dark chocolate with your mate before bed to get things going. Skip milk chocolate, as it doesn’t contain enough pure cocoa to be effective.
Fruits
Avocados and bananas are two fruits that contain ample amounts of potassium and B vitamins. Vitamin B6, found in avocados, may increase hormone production in males. Other B vitamins give the body more stamina and energy while boosting the libido. Potassium also helps to boost sex drive in both men and women as does bromelain, an enzyme found in bananas. As an added bonus, both bananas and avocados come in rather suggestive shapes.
