Home Remedies to Fix Bad Hair Color

You may have been excited when you decided to dye your hair, but the result turned out to be awful. Now you aren’t sure what to do to fix the problem. You don’t really want to spend the money to have a professional fix it, but you cannot leave it in its current state. Several home remedies can help you try to fix your bad hair color.

Shampoo

As soon as you know you do not like your dye color, you should apply shampoo directly and immediately to your hair. Do not add any water to the application. Make sure the hair is dry before applying the shampoo throughout your locks. When you leave the shampoo on your hair for approximately 45 minutes before rinsing it out with warm clear water, it should lift and remove some of the dye.

Oil

For years, women have believed that hot oil was a natural option for treating bad hair colors. You should apply the hot oil to your hair, then cover your head tightly with plastic wrap. The plastic wrap serves as an oven to “bake” the oil onto your hair and penetrate the shaft so that the color can be washed out. You should wash the oil out using your normal shampoo. You will be pleased with the reduced harshness of color, according to Hair Boutique.

Lemon

According to the Grandma’s Home Remedies website, using lemon juice on your hair will create changes to the dye. Natural lemon juice squeezed all over the hair and left to dry will help lighten it, regardless of its original color. In addition, the lemon will add sun-kissed highlights that may tone down the harsh reality of a bad dye job.
