Petzl America Recalls Rock Climbing Safety Lanyards

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced Tuesday that Petzl America has recalled roughly 375,000 Scorpio and Absorbica Shock Absorbing Lanyards. These lanyards pose a falling hazard to all users, as there is a missing safety stitch on the attachment loop. This can cause the lanyard to disconnect and the climber to fall. They were sold at authorized Petzl dealers throughout the U.S. and Canada between January 2002 and May 2011 for around $75 to $220.

Consumers should immediately stop using these lanyards and contact Petzl America for a free inspection and replacement of the lanyards at (877) 740-3826 or www.petzl.com. Visit the USCPSC website for more information on the recalled lanyards.
