Jessica Alba Wants Baby to Grow Up Bilingual

Mom-to-be Jessica Alba won’t be prepping for baby with just the standard Lamaze classes, she will be working on her Spanish-speaking skills as well. The actress revealed that she regrets not being fluent in Spanish, the language of her grandparents, and she is determined that her child will grow up learning both the language of his or her heritage, as well as English. Jessica was quoted saying, “I wish to God that my dad spoke Spanish to my brother and me, but he didn’t grow up with it.”

Jessica is in the process of mastering Spanish, hoping she can become fluent by her due date, which is sometime in early summer. “Hopefully, I can pick it up because I want my kids to speak Spanish,” she said. “I don’t even want them to speak English for maybe the first two to three years, until pre-school.”

Do any Modern Moms have tips for Jessica, and the rest of us, for raising a bilingual child?
