Ocean Spray Recalls Craisins With Possible Metal Fragments

Ocean Spray is voluntarily recalling thousands of pounds of the popular snack Craisins after reports of small, hair-like metal fragments mixed in with the fruit.

The recall affects certain lots of Original Flavor Craisins in 5-oz., 10-oz. and 48-oz. bags, as well as bulk dried sweetened cranberries in 10-lb. packages. No other Ocean Spray brand products are affected.

The company says they initiated the recall “out of an abundance of caution to ensure the safety of our consumers,” and emphasized that the fragments are extremely unlikely to cause any harm to consumers.

You can see a full list of the affected products here.

Consumers who have purchased the recalled products are urged to destroy them, save the UPC label and “best by” date and contact the Ocean Spray Consumer Hotline at 1-800-662-3263 for a coupon replacement.

It’s not the first time this year that food products have been recalled because of metal concerns. In October, Kraft recalled three types of Velveeta Shells & Cheese cups due to the “possible presence of small pieces of metal.”
