Halloween Party Recipes

Make your Halloween gathering both spooktacular and delicious by preparing some party recipes perfect for this holiday. With a few simple ingredients and some assembly time, you can create palate-pleasing dishes for your creepy party. Tasty treats will delight your guests’ eyes as well as their tummies.

Mummy Mini Pizzas

Transform a standard mini-pizza into a mummy-licious treat. To create these mini pizzas, use English muffins, pasta sauce, sliced mozzarella cheese and black olives. Halve your English muffins, and lay them out on a cookie sheet, face up. Cover each English muffin half with pasta sauce. Cut your sliced cheese into strips, and apply it to your pizzas, giving them the look of a wrapped mummy by placing the cheese strips going in one direction across each muffin half. Leave a section of the muffin open around where the eyes would be if it were a mummy head. Place two black olives in this open section to resemble eyes. Bake the pizzas in a 350-degree F oven for approximately 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the muffin bottoms slightly crisped. Serve hot from the oven.

Chocolate-Covered Banana Ghosts

Use bananas to create edible ghosts for your party. To create your ghosts, cut bananas in half and spear them with wooden or paper sticks. Melt white chocolate on the stove or in the microwave. Dip your banana halves in this molten chocolate, coating each banana completely. Melt a smaller portion of dark chocolate and, with a toothpick or tiny clean paint brush, use this chocolate to add a face to each banana ghost. Lay these ghouls out on a tray, or allow them to float about the party table by sticking them into a piece of black or orange foam or a plant.

Salty Bones

Prepare a salty snack for your Halloween party guests. To create these simple niblets, purchase packaged bread stick dough and coarse salt. Spread out half of your bread stick dough on a cookie sheet. Take the remaining dough and cut each stick into approximately 1-inch chunks of dough. Ball each of these chunks. Lightly apply water to the tip of each bread stick, and attach two of your balls of dough. Complete this process on each bread stick, turning the entire tray onto bone-shaped bread treats. Before baking, sprinkle your salt on each dough bone. Bake, following package instructions. Remove the salty bones from the oven when they are cooked through and lightly browned.
