John Edwards speaks out about the legal separation with his wife on Wednesday. His statement followed a statement made by his wife, Elizabeth Edwards, on Tuesday.
Elizabeth affirmed that she is “moving on with her life” after a “excruciatingly painful period.” Elizabeth’s sister Nancy Anania, relayed a message from Elizabeth, “I’ve had it. I can’t do this. I want my life back.” Elizabeth told her sister this after meeting with Edwards’ lovechild. She met the 23-month-old baby that John fathered with a mistress in a North Carolina hotel.
On Wednesday, John stated, “It is an extraordinarily sad moment, but I love my children more than anything and still care deeply about Elizabeth.”
According to PEOPLE, Elizabeth and John are living in separate residences. Elizabeth, who is battling cancer, is currently deciding on whether to pursue divorce.
