Charleton Heston Dies at 84, Madonna's Adoption of David Moves Forward, Tom Cruise Portrays Nemesis

Academy Award winning actor and celebudad Charleton Heston passed away this weekend at his home in Beverly Hills. Charleton’s movies like Ben Hur and The Ten Commandments made him a movie star and his work with the National Rifle Association, of which he was president, made him a political figure as well. His family released the following statement: “We knew him as an adoring husband, a kind and devoted father, and a gentle grandfather, with an infectious sense of humor. He served these far greater roles with tremendous faith, courage and dignity. He loved deeply, and he was deeply loved. No one could ask for a fuller life than his. No man could have given more to his family, to his profession, and to his country.”

Malawi’s government has recommended that its High Court formally approve Madonna‘s adoption of little David Banda. “They have made that application at (the) High Court…and the judge is expected to respond this afternoon,” a court official said.

Last week celebudad Tom Cruise attended an industry screening of his new movie, Tropic Thunder, from Paramount Pictures and DreamWorks.
In the film, Tom plays a “bald,hairy-chested, foul-mouthed, dirty-dancing movie mogul of the kind who is only too happy to throw an actor to the wolves when his popularity cools.” The movie is actually self vindicating –Tom’s smarmy role is a take on Viacom chairman Sumner Redstone, who publicly dismissed the actor in 2006.

Dad-to-be Matthew McConaughey has been offered the the lead in Universal Pictures’ adaption of the ’80s TV show Magnum P.I. He is reportedly reading the script right now. Would be interesting to see Matt’s take on the mustachioed Magnum, a role made famous by actor Tom Selleck.
