Back-to-back 2004 and 2008 Olympic gold medalist Kerri Walsh announced Tuesday that she and husband Casey Jennings are expecting their second child. The couple presently have a six-month old son, Joseph Michael. According to PEOPLE magazine, their new baby is due May 30th, 2010.
While Walsh may have earned the most prestigious honor in sports, after her first son, she gushed that there is nothing in the world as wonderful as being a mom. “It’s the most incredible feeling. We are already so in love with him and it’s such an amazing, special moment for our family.”
Walsh states that she will be trained and ready for the next Summer Olympics in 2012, and she will just be taking one year off to have her baby. She said that she will “creep back into shape” to be prepared for the 2011 season.
Good for her. She can have her cake and eat it too. Well, in her case, she can have her family and win Olympic gold medals too. We wish the Jennings the best of luck.
