Elizabeth Banks On Balancing Motherhood and Acting

August 9, 2011 by ModernMom Staff Leave a Comment

Celebrities may seem like they have it all, but it can’t be easy trying to raise kids under the constant scrutiny of the Hollywood spotlight, especially with all the travel that an acting career requires. Elizabeth Banks admitted to PEOPLE Magazine that she sometimes has a hard time balancing life as a Hollywood actress with being mom to her first child, 5-month-old, Felix. And while her family will alwasy come first, the ‘30 Rock’ cast member doesn’t have any plans of slowing down.

“I’ll just keep on going, and then we’ll see,” Banks told reporters on a tour promoting her latest movie, “Our Idiot Brother.” “You do it. You push through just like any other working mom.”
Banks is certainly keeping busy balancing the two things she loves most in life.

“The thing about motherhood is it’s a full-time job and everything else gets piled onto it,” she added.

With new movies “The Hunger Games” and “What to Expect When You’re Expecting,” she can understand first hand why many people take maternity leaves.

“You put so much of your brain energy, and your emotional and psychological energy into, ‘Where is he? What is he doing?’ that it’s almost hard to concentrate on anything else.”
