Demi Moore is planning to leave husband Ashton Kutcher after six years of marriage.
In a statement released by her publicist today, the 49-year-old actress announced her divorce plans, saying that she does so “with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton.”
“As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life.”
The couple, who tied the knot in 2005, have had a rocky few months. In September, reports surfaced that Kutcher had a one-night stand with 22-year-old Sara Leal on his sixth wedding anniversary. The 33-year-old actor was also accused on infidelity in 2010, when Brittany Jones, 22, claimed to have slept with him.
Moore added in her statement a request for privacy:
“This is a trying time for me and my family, and so I would ask for the same compassion and privacy that you would give to anyone going through a similar situation.”
Kutcher took to Twitter to comment on the split, writing “I will forever cherish the time I spent with Demi. Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail. Love and Light, AK”
