“Mom, I found some scissors. Can I cut something with them?”, asks my five year old Finn. Like any mom, my response was, “no sweetheart, you need to put them down”. Then I hear my daughters laughing and one of them yells, “Mom, I think it’s a little too late”. Luckily, after six kids who have all given themselves a haircut at one point, I am much more laid back when I see the haircut he gave himself. After all, I keep reminding myself, his hair will grow back. Right????
In the blink of an eye I went from the suburban mom who had it all to a single mom of six facing divorce, death, and moving. So what do you do when life throws you so many curves? You pick yourself up and find out you are stronger than you ever imagined. Blythe Newsome
