The Modern Day Red Tent is Born

August 18, 2010 by Wendy Irene Leave a Comment

A good friend of mine told me a while back about the Red Tent in ancient times. The Red Tent was a place women would go when menstruating. Here they took a break from their normal duties, and renewed themselves, as well as supported one another.
I thought to myself why not create a place where women can support one another through this time of the month, allowing us to share the good, the bad, and the ugly? Thus the modern day Red Tent was born right here on Modern Mom!
For me personally, I just don’t feel completely myself when that time of the month rolls around. If I or my lovely lady friends are menstruating it almost always comes up in the conversation. Why not? Talking about it helps support each other.
Here you can share all that surrounds that time of the month with other women. Find support from others, maybe people just like you going through similar symptoms, challenges and emotions.
Talking about it helps me stay calm at a time I find my patience can be lower than I’d like. Being here will benefit us, and as I see it our loved ones too! Maybe through supporting each other we will find that extra boost of patience we so badly need this time of the month to continue being the loving person we are inside.
Thanks for joining me in the Red Tent!
