Chipotle Closing All Restaurants On February 8 For Food Safety Meeting

Hopefully you won’t have a burrito craving on February 8th, or if you do, you’ll have to find a place other than Chipotle to eat. Chipotle is closing all of its stores nationwide to hold a staff meeting about food safety. All 19,000 restaurants will take part on February 8th.

Chipotle has unfortunately been plagued by several outbreaks of E.coli, Salmonella and norovirus. The stock has taken quite a beating, from it’s high of $750 it’s plummeted to as low as $428 a share. That’s over a 42% drop.

Chipotle spokesperson Chris Arnold stated that there hasn’t been an E. coli case in two months and that they’ve been serving a million customers a day “without incident.”

Has the outbreaks affected your trips to Chipotle?
