Most Common Leak We Don’t Talk About

March 30, 2016 by Guest Writer Leave a Comment

Compensation provided by Kimberly-Clark Corporation/Poise, however, Opinions and images are my own. The following post was written by Dana Vento.

Where do you think one of the most common leaks comes from? It’s not from your sink – no, the most common leak we don’t talk about is something known as light bladder leakage and it happens in women all around you. If you are a woman, my bet is you will recognize this story as we have all been there. Bladder leakage happens in women and women should feel empowered to stop letting leaks interrupt their lives and reach for those products designed to help.

Can you believe we have arrived at the point in our life where we have to talk about ‘a little pee in our pants?’ I surely have trouble discussing this one, but my girlfriend was totally boisterous about it. One night as we were having a girl’s night out (GNO,) she cautioned the woman next to her (who looked to be in her forties) “you better not suck down too many beers, because if you start laughing at OUR age, you might pee a little.” Of course this could have gone west on us and really turned ugly but instead, the lady turned to her and said, “Gads isn’t that the truth! Can’t remember the last time I didn’t have to cross my legs together while standing after a drink and a good laugh and hope there were no puddles below!” What happened next? We all started laughing, and the rest is history. She bought us a few drinks and she is now part of our GNO monthly. It seems that light bladder leakage can bring women together when you are open about it, rather than hiding from this fact of life.

Here is what you need to know:

  • 1 in 3 women experience light bladder leakage (LBL); common little leaks which can be triggered by exercise, laughing, coughing and sneezing. Many women also experience LBL during and after pregnancy.
  • While there are products specifically designed to help protect women against LBL (like Poise Thin-Shape pads), many still turn to period pads to help absorb their leaks. But period pads are not designed for LBL.

In fact, Brooke Burke-Charvet is helping to educate women about LBL and encouraging them to Seize Their Poise Moment – that exact moment when you realize how little leaks don’t have to slow you down. The more we open the conversation the more women say, “”Yeah me too.””

Poise Thin-Shape Pads have Thin-Flex Technology and are designed to move with your body. They are thinner than period pads and stay drier. (Can I get a fist bump? ) Here’s the bonus: Poise also provides 3-in-1 protection for dryness comfort and odor control and Absorb-loc core that quickly locks away that wetness and odor!

There definitely is a difference with Poise Thin-Shape pads – they are thin and sleek. And, when you buy them, you don’t need to strategically toss in random additional purchases atop these pads to hide them. There is nothing to be embarrassed about. We need to embrace life and understand and accept the changes in our bodies. STOP letting leaks interrupt your life.

Now it’s your turn, request a sample from Poise and start seizing your moments. Get control of the most common leak we don’t talk about, because we just did. Talk to your friends about it. Remember empowerment starts with you and gets passed on through girl power! BE strong, because you know we are.
