A recent study showed that more than 75 percent of respondents will break their New Years resolutions within 3 months and almost one-third will break them by the end of January. Apparently we all have good intentions, but generally poor follow through. Why? Forty-three percent say they are not committed to the New Years resolutions they set and 25 percent say they have too many other things to do, which is really just another way of saying they are not committed to their resolutions. With years and years of abandoned lists to learn from, its time to come up with a new strategy. Lets make 2010 the year of the baby step and beat those dismal New Years Resolution odds.

Developing Pre-reading Skills: How to read to your child

One of my friends once called and told me that she planned to hire a tutor for her five-year old child to teach him how to read. When I told her that at his age he was not expected to read, she told me that although she knew that he didn’t need to read at that point, she did not know how to help him. She was trained in business–had an MBA from one of the top schools in the country–but that didn’t help when it came to helping her child know how to read. Here are some of the tips that I gave her.

10 Tips for Beating the Holiday Bulge

The nuts and bolts of why most Americans gain 2-6lbs every Holiday season is because we eat more and exercises less. We cant change the amount of time between now and January 1st, but we can change how we use that time. Maintaining is the new losing during the Holidays. The easiest strategy to beat the bulge is to try to consume less calories in the coming festive weeks (then you normally would) before January 1st and get in more exercise. Given the extra strain on our schedules, this is easier said then done.
