The Board Game To Overcome The Period Taboo

Are you having trouble finding the right way to explain periods to your kid? Imagine if you could do it with a board game. Well, now you’ll be able to.

The Period Game is a board game designed to “teach menstruation in a fun, engaging way.” It started as an art school project between Daniela Gilsanz and Ryan Murphy four years ago, and now they’re on Kickstarter trying to make it a reality!

The game teaches practical period information including types of period protection (from pads to menstrual cups), possible PMS symptoms, how to handle them and more. The gameplay has ovaries you can spin and mini player piece tampons. The creators tested the game with over 200 students, gynecologists and health educators and have found it “pretty much impossible to play without saying the words ‘period’ or ‘pad.’”

It’s definitely a new way to approach the subject, and we’re curious to try it out! They have one days left to hit their goal, you can see more here.
