Puff Pastry Cheesy Love

Give these puff pastry hearts a try for your loved ones on Valentine’s Day!

You can fill them with just about anything, but my husband and kids love it when I make them with cheese… you can use smoked, pepper jack, Monterey, cheddar or Swiss… whatever you like.  They’re delish and sure to show your family how much you love them.

So bust out the heart shaped cookie cutters and show some cheesy love!

Cheesy Love Puff Pastry

Ingredients

  • Heart Shaped Cookie Cutters
  • 1 Package Frozen Puff Pastry (thawed)
  • 1 Package Shredded Mozzarella
  • 1 Egg
  • 2 Tbs. Chopped Parsley (optional)
  • 1/2 Tsp. Garlic Salt
  • Pinch of Salt

Directions

Remove puff pastry from box, set on counter and allow to thaw for about 30-45 minutes. In a bowl combine all remaining ingredients thoroughly, set in the fridge until ready for use.

Once the puff pastry has thawed, remove it from wrapper and unroll into a flat sheet on the counter.  Using your medium size heart shaped cookie cutter, start making hearts!

Fill with 1 tsp. of cheesy love mixture  in the center.  Using your finger, dab a few places around the perimeter of the heart so that when you  place another heart on top it will adhere and close completely.  Crimp down the edges with a fork to secure seal.

Brush the top of it with a pastry brush and egg wash.  This will give a nice shiny and glossy look to the pastry once it bakes.

Egg Wash

  • 1 Egg Beaten in a bowl
  • 1 Tbs. Water
  • 1 Pastry Brush

Place on a sheet pan sprayed with non stick spray.  Place in the oven on 425 for about 15-17 minutes.  Keep your eye on it… they go fast.

**Other things you can put inside: Cream cheese and strawberry or apricot jelly, ham and cheese, seasoned ground beef.
