Chaplin-Era Time Traveler Caught on Tape

Chaplin-Era-Time-Traveler

Previously unreleased footage from Charlie Chaplin’s 1928 film “The Circus” has everyone talking about a time travel mystery. It looks like a woman is talking on her cell phone in the background of the scene. Well, at least the woman appears to be holding an object to her ear and talking to it.

The clip was discovered on bonus material included with the DVD extras of the film. It's actually a behind-the-scenes look at the premiere of the film, which was held at Manns Chinese Theatre. So, it’s real footage from real people in 1928.

The clip, posted on Youtube, has received million’s of views and thousands of comments, with people trying to uncover the mysterious object. Some are calling the woman a time traveler who is using modern-day cell phone technology in the past. However, it's more likely that the woman is using something like an ear trumpet, — a 1920’s era hearing aide.

Either way, watching this clip is kind of surreal when you think about a woman in 1928 using a cell phone. Spooky, isn’t it?
