The Best Scrubs for Legs

As if we didn’t have enough body issues when it comes to donning the swim suit for spring and summer, we get to deal with one more: legs. More specifically, the skin on those great legs that carry us around; just shaving isn’t enough. Who wants to flash dry, flaky legs around on the beach? These scrubs are the perfect remedy! Give them a try, and let us know what you think!

Sea Salt Scrubs

Think of Sebastian crooning in his vain attempt to keep the Little Mermaid underwater: “Everything’s better down where it’s wetter….” Turns out he knew a thing or two, at least about sea salt and its benefits. Maybe skin scrubs weren’t really his topic, but sea salt is worth singing about. It exfoliates the skin of the legs, removing dry and flaky skin. Sea salt scrubs are also full of natural minerals, so they can help restore a good balance to your legs while making your skin smoother. You can purchase prepared sea salt scrubs or make your own by combining good quality sea salt with oil. Simply massage on and rinse off.

Sugar Scrubs

For the ultimate in at-home ease of preparation, you can’t beat a sugar scrub. You don’t need any special ingredients: just regular white sugar (or you can use brown), some oil, and a few drops of essential oil if you’d like a scent. You can also just combine a handful of sugar with some of your favorite lotion. Sugar grains provide a natural exfoliating action on your legs, leaving the skin smooth and soft. A sugar scrub is a great pre-shaving treatment; after a scrub and a shave, your legs will be silky and moisturized.

Oatmeal Scrubs

For those with sensitive skin, the grains of sugar or salt scrubs may be too intense. An oatmeal scrub is a great alternative; oatmeal will provide exfoliation but with a gentler texture. It is also moisturizing, so if you struggle with dry skin on your legs, it’s a great choice to remove the flakiness and renew the moisture on your legs. Make an oatmeal scrub at home by combining a handful of oatmeal with a few tablespoons of body oil or your favorite lotion. Rub on with gentle circular motions, then rinse off.
