Love Gifts for Women

July 27, 2010 by ModernMom Staff Leave a Comment

Whether it’s Valentine’s Day, Christmas or a birthday coming up, it’s smart to look for romantic gifts that she’ll enjoy. When choosing a gift, you should stay away from appliances, exercise equipment or food–unless she’s specifically asked for it. Consider her likes and dislikes when choosing a romantic gift. Keeping her happy is likely to keep you happy, too.

Traditional Anniversary Gifts

Traditionally, anniversary gifts are supposed to be made from specific materials that get progressively more valuable as the number of years increases–paper for your first anniversary and diamonds for your 60th. Within these guidelines, you can choose a gift that is romantic and well-suited toward her. For example, it may seem like there’s not much you can do when the gift should be made from paper, but you could print out a picture of the two of you or write a love poem. Using these guidelines shows that you are a stickler for tradition.

Personal Gifts

Think about the times you’ve shared together and try to find a gift that relates to that. For example, you could buy or put together a CD of songs by the band who’s concert you went to together. If she’s a sports fan, you could purchase season tickets to the local team’s games. Though these types of gifts may not fall under the traditional romantic gift categories of chocolate and flowers, they demonstrate a deeper understanding of who she is, which shows your love.

Jewelry

Jewelry is a popular romantic gift. You can find pieces that fit any budget. If you don’t have much to spend, you could purchase a simple gold bracelet with a heart-shaped charm. If money isn’t an issue, go for precious stones. Before you buy jewelry, pay attention to what she likes. For example, she may prefer silver or white gold to yellow gold. If she wears the same necklace all the time, it may be special to her and she may be reluctant to change it–try earrings or a bracelet instead. If she doesn’t seem to wear jewelry, then this isn’t the right gift for her. Unless it’s an engagement ring, don’t buy it simply because it seems romantic.

Spicy Gifts

When it comes to gifts for the bedroom, tread lightly. You have to know what your woman wants and what will make her feel sexy as opposed to what will make her feel inadequate. That said, gifts that help spice up your sex life can be a great romantic gift. Choose lingerie that she will feel comfortable in and that will flatter her body. Massage oils and candles can help put her in the mood.

Experiences

Gifts don’t have to be something that she can open. Taking her to a special event can be the perfect romantic gift. For example, you could make a reservation at the hot new restaurant she’s been wanting to try or you could buy tickets to the opera–which she’s always wanted to see, but you don’t really like. Paying attention to what she really wants to do is key to making this work. Don’t choose something that you want to do.
