Bridget Moynahan Pleased with Single Motherhood

July 19, 2010 by ModernMom Staff Leave a Comment

Gorgeous actress Bridget Moynahan, 39, is happy as a single mom. “I couldn’t ask to be in a better place right now, and there were multiple things that made all this — having a beautiful son and work I’m proud of and supportive friends — come true,” says Bridget in the August issue of Self Magazine. Bridget has one son, John Edward Thomas, 2 ½, with her ex, football player Tom Brady.

The star of the upcoming family flick “Ramona and Beezus” says she’d love to add to her litter, but only if she finds a mate to help her out. “While I’d love to have more children, I’m not sure I want another on my own,” Bridget admits.

“Having a child didn’t hold me back from a career or a love life or traveling; it has enhanced my life,” Bridget explains. But she also admits that motherhood is not always a field of roses. She says that being a mom “whether single or not” is not easy. Bridget blames the media for presenting mother” as if it’s easy or painless. “This presents a skewed version of the truth to young girls who dream of being a mom.

Bridget certainly does a good job of keeping out of public criticism and media frenzy. Her secret? “I don’t go out as much as I’d like because I don’t want my son to be involved in that,” she explains. “We do things privately, like reading Dr. Seuss, playing games and listening to music. That’s why you haven’t seen many photos of us. I don’t need to parade him around.”

Keeping private life separate from public life? We like it!
