From Best Friend to Ex Friend

There’s a Chinese proverb that says “You can hardly make a friend in a
year, but you can lose one in an hour.” David Arquette did that last
week when he went on national radio and spoke about his separation
with wife Courtney Cox.

Shocking Moments

One of the most shocking comments Arquette
made was admitting that he’d had an affair on Howard Stern’s popular
morning radio. Even more shocking was Arquette’s comment that “The
reason for this separation is to better understand ourselves and the
qualities we need in a partner and for our marriage. We remain best
friends and responsible parents to our daughter and we still love each
other deeply.”

Don’t Air Dirty Laundry

While celebrities are often forced into the limelight because their
lives are so public, airing dirty laundry is never a good idea. There
are no hard and fast rules about how to talk about a marital breakup,
but the lesson learned from David Arquette applies to anyone who has
betrayed a life long partner.

Unbearable

The pain and heartbreak experienced in the wake of an infidelity is
unbearable so showing your injured Ex the respect, compassion, and
kindheartedness they deserve should be a number one priority.

It Hurts

Having
an affair hurts your spouse, no matter what. Talking about it in
public, or on one of the most popular morning radio shows is like
throwing salt on a wound. It stings your spouse as well as your
children and can certainly tarnish your own reputation.
