Well, Charlie Sheen probably spent Christmas day much different than most of us. He was in jail.
Charlie Sheen and his wife Brooke Mueller were in Aspen, Colorado when things got ugly.
“They were fighting at a dinner in a friend’s house and it continued until the next morning,” a source told PEOPLE. “Both of them were drinking and neither was supposed to be. They both have histories of alcohol abuse and have made every effort to stop. But things got out of hand.”
I’d say “out of hand” might be a bit of an understatement as the 44-year old actor was arrested for second-degree assault, menacing and criminal mischief at 11:20 a.m. on the 25th according to a spokesperson for Pitkin County Sheriff’s Department in Aspen. After posting $8500 bond, he was released at 7 pm. that evening.
The source told PEOPLE that the couple will “…undergo counseling and Charlie will get anger management counseling.”
The actor’s attorney Richard Cummins said that “They have two children together and they love one another and they’re going to work through what is a difficult time and they’re going to do that together and as privately as possible.”
Mueller, 32, and Sheen have 9 month old twins, Bob and Max who were with them in the rented house in Aspen.
Sheen returned to Los Angeles and Mueller is staying in Aspen. The source says “after this unfortunate event, they need to be apart for awhile.”
‘Unfortunate event’ sounds like another understatement to me. We’ll see how this one plays out, but for the safety of the kids and Mueller, I hope Sheen gets the help he needs.
