Madonna Blas
Madonna will be celebrating a huge milestone this summer: her 50th birthday. However, as she told journalists last week while promoting her new album, turning the big 5-0 isn’t that big of a deal. “It’s not a bad word — you can say it,” she said when one reporter whispered “5-0.” And when the same reporter asked her about reaching “a landmark for a lady,” she made the journalist clarify that it’s “a landmark for everybody.”
Madonna doesn’t seem worried about getting older and as far as her August 16th birthday goes, she isn’t thinking about it much. “Everybody else keeps mentioning it,” she said. “I see it as another excuse to have a birthday party.” Fifty is just a number to the pop diva. Madonna said physically, “I feel stronger now than, maybe, 20 years ago — but I think your physicality is connected to your consciousness. So if your mind is strong, your body will be strong.” I think that’s a great attitude, and a very positive message to send out, especially when many women go to extremes to stop the aging process with Botox and plastic surgery these days.
What’s next on Madonna’s agenda? The Material Girl and mom of three has a new album, Hard Candy, which comes out on April 29th.
