French first lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy gave birth to a baby girl on Wednesday, her first child with husband President Nicolas Sarkozy.
What did they decide to name the little girl? Giulia.
The 43-year-old former model made the announcement on her official web site saying, “I am deeply touched by the many messages of congratulations that I have received since the birth of our daughter.”
Bruni-Sarkozy delivered the baby around 8 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the La Muette maternity clinic in central Paris. The little girl weighed in at 7 1/2 lbs. It’s the first time that a child has been born to a ruling French leader since the birth of Napoleon Bonaparte in Paris 155 years ago.
It’s the fourth child for Sarkozy, 56, who has three sons from his previous marriages and the second for Bruni-Sarkozy, who has a 10-year-old son from a former relationship.
