Memorial Day Rum Fruit Smoothie

May 21, 2018 by Madison Pados Leave a Comment

I love making themed cocktails for the holidays. It’s a fun way to kick off a party and makes the simplest of gatherings even more festive.

This drink is a favorite because of its easy recipe and rich fruit base. It’s refreshing at any time of day and is easy to make without alcohol too. For larger parties, make a blender-full of each rum and fruit combo and do your best to keep up with the empty glasses.

Memorial Day Rum Fruit Smoothie

Ingredients (makes 1 serving)

  • 3 ounces rum
  • 1/2 cup blueberries
  • 1/2 cup sweetened strawberries
  • 1/2 a banana

Directions

In a blender, combine blueberries with 1 ounce of rum and blend until smooth. Remove the ingredients and pour into a freezable container. Repeat the process for the strawberries, then the banana, storing each in a separate freezable container.

Store the three mixtures in the freezer until firm, but not frozen.

When the consistency is similar to that of a milkshake, remove the ingredients from the freezer.

Using a spoon or small spatula, carefully layer each ingredient into a glass.

Garnish with a cherry or a toothpick with an American flag. Enjoy!
