Birthday Flower Unique Ideas

A bouquet of red roses makes a lovely birthday gift, but it can be fun to try something a little more imaginative. Fortunately, there are many unique gift ideas that involve flowers but add something a little bit different. Think about the kind of birthday your friend or loved one would like to celebrate and integrate that theme into your unique floral gift.

Moonlit Birthday

Send a moonlit birthday bouquet. Create an arrangement of all white flowers. Include some tulips or other flowers that have cuplike petals. Give the birthday girl or boy instructions to place the bouquet outside on a moonlit night. The white blooms will have an otherworldly glow in the moonlight.

Cocktail Bouquets

Create an instant party with a margarita or martini bouquet. Begin with an oversized margarita or martini glass. Fill the base of the glass with florist foam. Begin with a layer of tight white blossoms, like carnations or poms. This is your rim of salt. Build the cocktail with flowers in the appropriate colors. Add a swizzle stick for a great effect.

Wildflowers

Go green by using flowers that are growing in your back yard. Tie them up with raffia. Or you can go shabby chic by presenting a blossom or two in a flea market teacup or chipped teapot. Wildflowers also look beautiful in vintage blue glass bottles and old Coke bottles.

Flower Cake

While your birthday girl or guy may have his fill of sweets on that special day, this cake has no sugar or calories. Begin with either a pastry box or, for a great presentation, a vintage cake stand. Build a cake using mini carnations and poms that you stick into a rectangular or oval piece of florist foam. Use small balls of clay to affix candles to the box or cake plate. Top the cake with some bright blossoms.
