Best Homemade Valentine’s Day Gifts

September 28, 2010 by ModernMom Staff Leave a Comment

Valentine’s Day is the day to declare your love. Couples around the world use it as an opportunity to remind each other why they are so important to each other. Whether you have been together for decades or only a few months, a homemade Valentine’s Day gift can reinforce your love for one another.

Music CD

It can’t get more romantic than a homemade music CD filled with love songs. Take several weeks choosing songs that remind you of your love, the special times in your relationship and what your hopes and dreams are for the future together. Once you have chosen 10 to 15 songs, burn them into a CD and present them to your love over a romantic home-cooked Valentine’s Day dinner.

Scrapbook

This idea works well if you have collected tidbits and memorabilia from places you and your loved one have been together. For example, ticket stubs from the first movie you attended as a couple, photos of dates, airline tickets from your first vacation together and a take-out menu from your favorite diner will all contribute value to the Valentine’s Day scrapbook. Use a hot glue gun to decorate the front of a scrapbook with love quotes and song titles. Place the items you have saved inside the scrapbook on individual pages. Alongside each item, write a little love note about what that item means to you and why. Present it to your loved one on Valentine’s Day.

Map

A map can be a loving and cherished Valentine’s Day gift. Using a map of your city, you can mark the areas that you and your loved one have gone together. Place an “x” by the movie theater where you saw your first flick, another one where the restaurant where he proposed and on other places where you and he spend time together. Burning the edges of the map will give it an authentic aged appearance. Roll it up and tie a red ribbon around it to give to your man at dinner.
