New Tra-Dish: Ragú Baked Pizza Ziti

The following post is sponsored by Ragú®

Put a fun new spin on a classic recipe and make a New Tra-Dish! Today’s dinner idea is brought to you from Mommy Diaries of a Florida Mom.
We love this great recipe for family pizza night – Pizza Baked Ziti!

For whatever reason, in a lot of households, Friday Night = Pizza Night.  It definitely was in our home until my son was born.  Now we try to save money where we can, so ordering pizza weekly is a tradition that is in our past.

I decided to start a new tradition OR a “New Tra-Dish” as Ragú coined.   I put a spin on Ragú’s No Boiling Baked Ziti and made it Baked Pizza Ziti.

My husband doesn’t like veggies on his pizza (thankfully every 1/2 cup of Ragú® Old World Style® Traditional Sauce contains 2 servings of vegetables including 11 juicy tomatoes) so the only pizza topping I added to this recipe is pepperoni, however, I would encourage you to add any of your favorite toppings.

Ingredients

  • 1 jar (1 lb. 8 oz.) Ragú® Old World Style® Traditional Pasta Sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1 container (15 oz.) ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (about 8 oz.)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 8 ounces uncooked ziti pasta
  • 1 small package of pepperoni

Now… I’m a busy mom.  I work from home, keep up with the housework and care for my son.  So I am NOT big on kitchen clean up and I certainly don’t like to add to my work load while making dinner.   I also rarely have a lot of time to prep a meal, especially since my son is super mobile now.  The changes I made to the prepping and cooking of Ragú’s recipe reflect that.  To be honest, I normally don’t use Ragú.  But this Old World Style is much thicker than what I remember Ragú being.  Very yummy!

Directions

Preheat oven to 400 Degrees Fahrenheit

Mix the Ragu, water, ricotta cheese, uncooked ziti, 1/2 of pepperoni packet (or 1/2 of your favorite pizza toppings) and Parmesan cheese in  casserole dish.

Sprinkle mozzarella cheese and the remaining pepperoni (or remaining toppings) on top.
Cover tightly with foil and bake for about 45 minutes.

BAKED PIZZA ZITI!

It was definitely a hit with my hubby.  He told me “You should make this again!”  And then promptly claimed the leftovers.

I think we have our new Friday Night “Tra-Dish”
