Chocolate Marshmallow Popcorn Surprise

Who doesn’t love popcorn?

Okay, who doesn’t love popcorn with melted marshmallow on top?

Okay NOW…who doesn’t love popcorn, melted marshmallow and your favorite candy on top?

No one!

This recipe is fun to make with the kiddos too! They can help spread the popcorn out and sprinkle the candies on the top…fun!

After it cools, you can cut it into squares and bring it to class parties, Superbowl parties etc.

It’s one of those fun treats that you get the sweet from the chocolate and the savory from the popcorn.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Bag of Mini Marshmallows
  • 1 Batch of Popcorn ( air popped, microwave-light butter style, or stove top)
  • 4 Tbsp. Butter
  • 3 or 4 Chocolate Candy Bars (your favorite)
  • 1 Bag Themed M & M’s (this is how you can theme it to any holiday)
  • Non-Stick spray
  • Cookie Sheet
  • Foil or Silicone Mat

Directions:

Start by cutting you candy bars length wise, and then cut the candy bars up into bite size pieces.

At this point, pop your popcorn. While popping, line a cookie sheet with foil and spray with non-stick cooking spray. (This will keep the marshmallow from sticking, you’ll thank me later.)

Once popcorn is done, spread out on cookie sheet and reserve the kernels for the trash. Add your 4 Tbsp. of butter to the pot and stir to melt. You want your heat at medium-high.

Pour the whole bag of mini marshmallows into the melted butter and stir, stir, stir! Hint: Spray your utensil with non-stick cooking spray as well, it will keep some of it from sticking.

When all of the marshmallows are melted, pour over the top of the popcorn:

Now for the fun part! Start sprinkling your candies over top while the marshmallow is still hot.

This is the hard part, let it cool!

You can eat it straight from the tray, cough…cough…

If you want to individually wrap portions for class parties etc., cut into generous squares and put into themed baggies.

Possibilities are endless!
