Toyota Recalls Half A Million Cars

Toyota Motor Co. is recalling 550,000 cars, more than 420,000 of which are in the United States.

The vehicles need to have an engine component replaced to prevent steering malfunctions.

Recalled models include the Camry, the Solara, the Highlander and the Sienna for the 2004 and 2005 model years, as well as the 2004 Avalon and the 2006 Highlander HV. The recall also includes the 2006 Lexus RX 400H and the 2004 and 2005 ES330 and RX330.

These recalls are separate from the recalls involving faulty brakes on 2009 models.

If you hear any “abnormal noise,” coming from the engine compartment, contact your local Toyota or Lexus dealer for a replacement crankshaft pulley. For more information, visit www.toyota.com/recall/ or http://www.lexus.com/recall/ to check your VIN to see if your car is affected by the recall.
